I have asked a few other Tech sites and all say format and download drivers. All missing files are now on H/D, system is working perfectly but still get messages at start saying missing files, even though they are on H/D. He said I could take pot luck and format!!I managed to install files by adding another video card (the m/b had integrated video) I then reinstalled windows and it recognised card and installed files. I told him their floppy would not recognise new cdrom, he said when you want to add any major hardware you must send back to them they then encrypt info onto your H/D and make up another boot up floppy. You must boot with floppy which then boots to CD and installs windows.

I contacted Packard Bell, what happens is they zip and encrypt all info onto their hard drives with matching floppy and master CD. The currently listed bootable partition is the failed windows install. I had already tried everything you suggested with no luck. Install and run testdisk (freeware) on this computer, Select your Easynote external HDD drive (take care do not select the wrong HDD) Change the boot partition (primary) to the Packard Bell recovery partition, usually the first partition listed. Therefore cannot place comment on my question page. I tried to contact them but got an automated response? Hi, I am the person who put this question up but they have put it under the wrong user id. Someone just told me only option is to format but would like some other options before I have to do this. Will it do any good to re-attach old CDrom(even though it does’nt work properly) and boot up with floppy so it recognises old cd rom.and then it may continue with boot up. Is there another way I can get this onto the hard drive, can I use another computer and this hard drive as slave to install these files. I have tried running this CD from DOS, but no go. Says Atapi 44 in Bios, and works, but all Packard Bell boot up discs will not recognise it. I think this again is due to not recognising new CD rom. I have tried to change the boot process from A to D drive and used the CD boot disc but ignores this and goes straight to starting windows and then message need VXD file. This computer also has a Packard Bell floppy boot up disc, trouble is customer changed the original CDrom and the boot up disc will not recognise the new oneand will not continue boot up process. this comes with the Packard Bell boot up CD disc.
